“The film and score are a reflection of what it means to be young, creative, and driven in a city where it isn’t easy to keep your head above sea level.”
In 2015, rising club producer Otik debuted a score he’d written for a film directed by Sonni Rossi, as part of a project that looked to spotlight the vibrancy and creativity of youth cul-ture in London. ‘London Chronicles: Under The Radar’ was premiered at The Ace Hotel in Shoreditch and the OST, a full 17-track piece, has since remained bound to the film, una-vailable to download or stream anywhere — until now.
To be made available for free by UK imprint Push & Run — a label responsible for EPs from the likes of Pedestrian and Ifan Dafydd over the years — Otik’s OST forms an ex-traordinary body of work, not only showcasing his ability to write engaging, thematic music but also the breadth of his sound design. “I wanted every person’s craft to seem equally important by portraying a rainbow of different sounds and genres”, Otik explains, “which in a sense emulate the many talents, cultures and forms of art that we chose to display throughout the project.”
Although his recent output on labels like Bristol’s Durkle Disco and most recently, Dext, has been squarely aimed at the club, 2015’s ‘London Chronicles: Under The Radar’ OST amounts to some of his most ambitious and thoughtfully executed work of his career so far.
