(Words: Ben Hindle – DJ Mag)

Troy Gunner explores the outer edges of techno and bass music with his finely crafted Fresh Kicks delivery.

As with so many from the conveyor belt of talent that is Bristol – where the fast-rising selector was born – Gunner’s influences and interests range far and wide, but feature overarching themes of dub and low-end-heavy genres.

Over the years he’s released on the likes of Materials, Mindset and pioneering Montréal outlet, Infinite Machine, while his latest effort — a percussive dreamscape titled ‘Pleading’ — lands as part of a compilation EP for Brotherhood Sound System Records.

Already a respected name amongst those in the know — garnering support from tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson and Mary-Anne Hobbs — and with his own GUNNER imprint now in the works too (listen out for offerings in the set below), Troy is well-and-truly cementing his place as both a top notch producer and eclectic selector.

As futher evidence of this, Gunner’s mix features tracks from the likes of Akkord, Batu, Trikk and Reform; check it out, along with the full tracklist, below.
